It’s quite impossible for anyone to not recognize our Health DG, Dr Noor Hisham nowadays. He has been recognised internationally for his calm and efficient way of handling the Covid-19 pandemic. Countless Malaysians wait for him in front of their TV screens every day no matter good or bad news.
But how much do we actually know about this man? Honestly, not much but he is someone who prefers to keep his private life under wraps and we should respect that. However, imagine our delight when the man himself shared some throwback pictures from his uni days.
Can you find him from the picture above?
In conjunction with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) celebrating its 50th anniversary, Dr Noor Hisham who’s an alumnus of UKM for both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees posted a wish for his beloved university. If you noticed, he was even wearing the UKM tie during his press conference yesterday!
“As a graduate, I pray that UKM will continue to produce outstanding and competitive graduates who live up to its motto of inspiring futures and nurturing possibilities.”
He also posted a thank you message for his mentor, Professor Emeritus Dr Freda Andrea Meah. She started the country’s first endocrine unit at UKM and as one of her many students, the DG thanked her for being an amazing inspiration and guide throughout his career.
The DG graduated as a doctor of medicine in 1988 and obtained his Master of Surgery in 1994. Currently, he is also a senior consultant surgeon in breast, endocrine and general surgery at Hospital Putrajaya.
Despite being one of the most celebrated Malaysians today, it’s inspiring to see how Dr Noor Hisham never forgot his roots. Day after day, he gives us more reasons to love and respect him.
