A 25-year-old security guard in Penang was recently arrested by PDRM after being accused of raping an Australian woman while pretending to send her to the hospital.
He pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court in Georgetown on today (July 4) to two charges of raping and sodomising an Australian female tourist. The victim is only 21 years old.
The accused, S Prasanth, 25, pleaded guilty before Judge Juraidah Abbas after both charges were read out to him in Tamil as he could not understand Bahasa Malaysia.

In the first charge, the accused was charged with raping an Australian woman and at the time placing the victim in fear, death or injury by pointing a pair of metal scissors at her. For this, the accused is charged with committing an offence punishable under Section 376(2)(b) of the Penal Code, in which he can be sentenced to prison for not less than 10 years and not more than 30 years and caning.
For the second charge, the accused intentionally engaged in sexual intercourse and sodomised the victim. For this, he was charged under Section 377C of the Penal Code, to which he could face a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Both offences allegedly took place in a Perodua Axia at the Hong Seng Chinese Cemetery area, Mount Erskine Estate, between 5: 20 AM and 6 AM on June 28.

The case was handled by Penang Director of Prosecutions, Mohd Nordin Ismail, and Deputy Public Prosecutor, Lee Jun Keong, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer. Mohd Nordin requested that the court not grant bail to the accused due to the seriousness of the crime he committed, calling it “completely unacceptable.”
Nordin also requested the court for RM100,000 bail for each charge if bail was granted.
The accused, on the other hand, requested bail as he had no permanent job and needed to care for his 66-year-old mother. His father is unemployed.
The court did not grant bail to the accused, and the matter has been set for document submissions on July 31, reported Sin Chew and Malaysia Gazette.
