Here’s a story about an everyday Malaysian that is sure to warm your hearts!
According to The Sun, a Malaysian man who owns a chicken rice restaurant noticed many homeless people coming to the back alley behind his shop to take leftover food.
Saddened at the state of the less fortunate, he decided to do the kindest, most selfless act.
The restaurant owner decided to give the homeless people easier access to food and water by putting a fully stocked fridge near Layer Gene Cafe in Raja Uda, Butterworth.
The fridge is open to the homeless from 8.30am to 11pm.
Dubbed the ‘caring refrigerator’, the selfless man is paying RM120 a month to rent the fridge while the cafe pays for the electricity bill.
He makes sure the fridge is always stocked with sandwiches, cakes, mineral water and packet drinks so the homeless will always have something to eat that’s easily accessible. After all, he wouldn’t want them to starve or be dehydrated.
One of the generous man’s employees shared that his boss wanted to do more to help the homeless people who turn up at his shop asking for leftovers every day.
“On the second day we see them take food from the refrigerator.”
“We also see some old people wanting to do the same but they were afraid to or unsure.”
The restaurant owner’s employee continued,
“We do not stop anyone from taking food or drinks from the refrigerator. We are more worried of vandalism or freeloaders who take more than they need.”
Being the considerate man that he is, the restaurant owner also makes sure that there isn’t any food items containing pork in the fridge.
He has also urged the public to help out by donating fresh food, so that there’s a variety of food to choose from.
What a selfless and caring man! He really makes us have faith in humanity again!
