The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has refuted the claims by Malaysian influencer Caprice that no action was taken against a Ducati motorcycle group that was seen riding dangerously and performing ‘wheelie’ stunts in a viral video.
Instead, PDRM stressed that there are no favouritisms in the performance of their duties and that all of those that break the law will be subjected to stern action as per the relevant laws.
In a statement, Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mat Kasim Karim asserted that regardless of whether those that break traffic laws are riding a high-performance Ducati motorcycle or a ‘kapcai’ (motorcycle with a small capacity engine), they are subjected to the same action as per the law.
The statement further elaborated that the police have opened 2 investigation papers over the viral video of the Ducati motorcycle gang racing and doing wheelies under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Besides that, the police have also taken action against a rider of a high-performance motorcycle seen not wearing a helmet in another viral video.
Hence, PDRM urges the public to not make any unfounded speculations and welcomes any information regarding those that broke traffic laws in our country.
