Kuala Lumpur Police Chief says Namewee had a close relationship with Iris that went beyond friendship
Speaking to the media today, Fadil said Namewee has been with Iris since they were abroad, until the death that took place at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 22 October, where Namewee was arrested with drugs on him, and tested positive for four different substances.
Fadil also pointed out that throughout his detainment, Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, has been cooperative. Namewee had been staying with Iris in the hotel since her arrival in the country, and until her death was exposed.
Earlier, Namewee claimed that he had called an ambulance through the MERS999, and said that the medical team took almost an hour to reach the scene. The Ministry of Health, however, clarified that they reached the hotel in just 26 minutes.
At the time being, Fadil said that the police are still waiting for the autopsy and toxicology report, which will determine PDRM’s next course of action.

Some parties attempted to claim Iris’ body
Additionally, Fadil also revealed that Iris’ body is still in the morgue at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital and that some parties have tried to claim the influencer’s body.
“We did not allow them to claim as they did not have proper identification,” reported Harian Metro and China Press.

Namewee is expected to be released from police custody on Thursday (13 November) after his second remand expires. The matter was initially reclassified from sudden death to murder after PDRM found new evidence.
Namewee also insisted that he is innocent, according to his lawyer.
