Since his defeat in the 15th General Election (GE15) in an unfavourable seat and subsequent expulsion from UMNO, former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has seemingly found a new lease on life.
These include engaging in non-political endeavours such as being a DJ at a local radio station and taking a position with Johor Darul Ta’zim.
Of course, that doesn’t mean he’s not active in political discourse though, as he, alongside former UMNO info chief Shahril Hamdan created a podcast where they talk candidly about national politics.
Well, it looks like Khairy’s candidness regarding politics is not just confined to the podcast as he recently took to social media to openly criticise his former UMNO comrade and Member of Parliament (MP) for Kinabatangan, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
In an Instagram Story, Khairy revealed that Bung wants to oppose the law to control smoking products, something that the latter had done during the former’s tenure as Health Minister.
Sharing a photo of the Kinabatangan MP, Khairy dubbed Bung as an “Enemy of public health” and sarcastically asserted that he “probably thinks smoking doesn’t cause cancer”.
Khairy further asserted,
“Pakyu Moktar Radin. Thankfully Sabah didn’t fall to you.”
Of course, the former Health Minister said the last sentence in reference to the infamous incident when Bung shouted the expletive in the Dewan Rakyat.
As for the second half of the sentence, it was in reference to the recent attempts by BN Sabah to wrestle leadership of the state government in the East Malaysian territory.
Yesterday, current Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa announced that the Control of Smoking Product for Public Health Bill 2023 will be tabled for first reading on 12 June.
The Bill is more or less the same initiative brought forth by the ministry when it was helmed by Khairy.
