Tengku Mahkota Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah has expressed anger and dismay over something Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had said that apparently deliberately and cynically disputed the duties of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah when His Highness was the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Taking to His Highness’s Instagram Story, Tengku Hassanal shared that, as a former Prime Minister and veteran politician, Muhyiddin had manipulated facts and showcased a negative narrative of Al-Sultan Abdullah not being fair when choosing Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister.
“His statement also seems immature, it seems as if he still cannot accept the reality that he was not appointed as (the 10th) Prime Minister. This statement is also very dangerous because it openly incites the people to lose faith in the Institution of Malay Rulers and divides the people,” Tengku Hassanal said.
His Highness also clarified that Al-Sultan Abdullah had called Constitutional experts, the country’s main public servants and sought the views of the Council of Rulers before appointing Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister, also with a motion of confidence from Parliament.
With that, Tengku Hassanal called for action to be taken against the former Prime Minister for deliberately touching on the sentiments of race, religion and royalty (3R).
According to a report by Sinar Harian, the police have received a total of 28 reports against Muhyiddin for touching on 3R issues while campaigning at the recent Nenggiri State Assembly by-elections.
