In an update by Kuala Lumpur Police, over 30 roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed or have diversions in place for the 2024 Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon.
According to their statement, Kuala Lumpur Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa mentioned that the marathon will begin and end at Merdeka Square on October 5th (Saturday) and October 6th (Sunday).
Road closures for 5th and 6th October
The road closures will begin on the 1st day of the marathon, which is designated for the 5KM and 10KM categories, on October 5th. These closures will start early at 5 AM and continue until 12 PM, affecting a total of 15 roads throughout the city.
On the following day, October 6th, which is reserved for the 21KM and 42KM categories, the closures will commence even earlier, starting at 3 AM and lasting until 12 PM. This 2nd day will impact a larger number of roads, with a total of 35 roads, with 2 split routes being affected by the closures.
Jalan Raja will be closed from October 4th
Since the marathon is kicking off and wrapping up at Dataran Merdeka, Jalan Raja will be closed from 8 PM on October 4th until 12 PM on October 7th.
The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, with a strength of 361 personnel comprising 16 Senior Police Officers and 345 Junior Police Officers, will carry out full closures in stages.

Road Closure for Le Tour de Langkawi
Rusdi also mentioned that 12 roads will be temporarily closed in stages on October 3rd for the 5th stage of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2024.
The race will kick off at 11 AM from the Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers on Jalan Ampang and will pass through several major roads in the Kuala Lumpur city centre, including Persiaran KLCC, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, Jalan Tun Razak, and back to Jalan Ampang as it heads toward MRR2.
