With the Olympics coming in July and August 2024, many athletes are now trying to qualify for the games.

However, it seems that many of our athletes have failed to pass through the qualifying stage, reported BERNAMA.

It is said that Olympic favourites such as the men’s hockey team and none of the female divers have managed to qualify for the Olympics.

This includes two-time Olympic medallist Datuk Pandelela Rinong and budding divers Nur Dhabitah Sabri and Wendy Ng Yan Yee, who have failed.

As for male divers, only Bertrand Rhodict Lises has qualified for the men’s individual 10m platform, while Jellson Jabillin and Enrique Maccartney Harold, also male divers, still stand a chance.

Many other experienced sportsmen and sportswomen have yet to qualify for the games as well, such as archer Khairul Anuar Mohamad, sailor Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy, track cyclers Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang and Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom and the national badminton players.

As of now, only 5 athletes (including Bertrand) have qualified for the Olympics, and they are: woman recurve archer Ariana Nur Dania Zairi, woman sailor Nur Shazrin Latif, woman road cyclist Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir and shooter Johnathan Wong.

The National Sports Council (NSC)had estimated that 25-30 athletes would go through the qualifiers for the games.

Even though many have failed, many other athletes are still trying their best to earn a ticket to Paris.

We hope the rest will breeze through the qualifiers to bring victory back to the nation!
