Never judge a book by its cover.

A woman in Hubei, China was recently spotted stealing a pack of bottled water from a grocery store. In a video shared on Weibo, the owner checked the CCTV footage and was shocked to find out that the person who stole an entire pack of bottled water was an old woman!

The pack of bottled water weighed 12 KG and based on the footage, the old lady needed very little effort to steal the pack of 24 bottles.

Everything happened within seconds.

An elderly would usually need help carrying something heavy but not this old lady who was caught in the act. She lifted the pack with only 1 hand and rushed off the scene, and it seemed like the weight of the water bottles did not slow her down.

In the footage, the woman was also seen observing the area and immediately lifted away one of the packs after noticing there was no one around.

The store owner was not only shocked at what he saw but he was also worried about the woman’s safety.

“Given her age, she had the risk of falling down when carrying the beverage like that,” he said.

The store owner also said that the cost of the drinking water was not expensive and if the elderly woman was really desperate, he would’ve given it to her.

“I shared the incident in a social media group, hoping that she would return to settle the bill. I’m not reporting this matter to the police because I still want to leave some dignity for the old woman.”

It’s generous of the store owner NOT to report the matter to the authorities. How would you handle the situation if you were the store owner?
