In a recent Facebook post, the blogger writes:
“Hari ni aku ade sikit masa lapang, jd aii pergilah masjid di Los Angeles, atas galakan dan saranan umat2 Islam kat page aku. Bila aku masuk ruang legar tu, pak Imam dah jemput masuk… Aku pon katalah, “I want to learn more about Islam.”
Kat dlm masjid tu mmg indah, dindingnya penuh dgn tulisan Jawi dan petikan2 drp Al Qur’an… Pak Imam tu terangkan Islam pd aku, semua basics yg aku dah tau (5 pillars of Islam, 6 basic principles, etc.), tp aku sibuk melihat design dan estetik masjid…
Aku nak tangkap gambar, tp dlmnya depa tulis, “No photography or videography is allowed.” Biarpon begitu, aku ajak sekali Pak Imam tu ambik selfie. Tau ape dia kata, “I have no problems with photographs, but I don’t know how you intend to use this photograph.” Iisshhh, sensitip pulak tu.
Jd yg sy sempat tangkap hanyalah selfie aku di perkarangan masjid, bersama2 bahan bacaan yg diberikan oleh Pak Imam tersebut.
A couple days ago prior to the post, Alvin wrote:
“Okeh, skrg aku hampir nak masuk Islam dah… Tp gua x mau ikut hadis/Sunnah dan sirah, Ikut al Qur’an je. Boleh x? Sbb hadis tu rekaan manusia, jd aii tolak hadis.”
He even played along and asked for suggestion on what his Malay name would be,
“Klo aku akhirnya betul2 memeluk Islam, nama Islam patut aku pakai? Aku suka Ali.”
We are not sure if he’s being sincere or just trolling, although his personality would indicate many to believe that it is the latter.
Tan fled to America last May after being charged with sedition for apparently insulting Muslims by asking them to break fast with bak kut teh, a popular chinese pork dish. The post includes an image of him with the dish on Facebook.
