After two years of staying at home thanks to the pandemic, we can finally get a breath of fresh air without any limitations.

According to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, all sports and recreational activities are allowed without any restrictions, such as vaccination status and time limit, starting 1 May 2022.

Besides, group activities like aerobics, Zumba, taekwondo training and similar sports are also allowed without any limit or maximum capacity for participation, said the ministry through a media release, according to BERNAMA.

Spectators and supporters are also now allowed at the sports and recreational venues, depending on the capacity of the venue with no physical distancing requirement. Yet, the ministry still encourages physical distancing when they are not wearing face masks.

As previously announced, the use of face masks is no longer necessary in open areas or when doing sports activities indoors, but compulsory when not doing any sports activity in enclosed areas. Scanning the MySejahtera code is also not required anymore when entering sports premises.

Now, sports and recreational venues can operate without a time limit, and it is mandatory for the management to check the individuals’ MySejahtera risk status to ensure that those of high risk (Covid-19) or are under home surveillance order are not permitted to enter.

Except for small-scale events at the community level, tournaments and competitions at the domestic and international levels are allowed, provided that permission is granted by the Sports Commissioner’s Office.
