A new cluster (Sentosa Cluster) has been detected involving a hospital in Kuching, Sarawak.
According to the Ministry of Health, the index case of this cluster (case 8,773) is a health worker who experienced respiratory symptoms on 13th July and tested positive for Covid-19. Following that, contact tracing and investigations were carried out.
As of 21st July, 61 people have been screened, of which five tested positive for Covid-19 while 56 tested negative. This means that this cluster consists of six positive cases, including five health workers and one employee from a cleaning company. All six patients are currently being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital.
As of now, the hospital is still running but will not be accepting in-patients while out-patients will be referred to the nearest hospitals for temporary treatment
Disinfection and sanitisation processes are being carried out while the cause of the infection is still under investigation.
As of 21st July, 15 new cases were recorded including 11 local cases and four import cases. Seven patients have recovered bringing the total number of active cases to 130. Meanwhile, the death toll remains at 123.
