Malaysia’s initial attire for the Paris Olympics has sparked ongoing discussions, with many Malaysians expressing dissatisfaction with it, prompting talks of a redesign. Consequently, another Malaysian contingent’s attire was revealed, which has received a positive reaction this time around.
While many Malaysians were sharing their thoughts on Malaysia’s official attire, Mongolia revealed theirs designed by @michelamazonka, which caught the attention of many.
“It’s no longer the Olympics”
One particular netizen, @Januarhaikal took to X (previously Twitter) to share his thoughts about Mongolia’s official Olympics attire, mentioning how it no longer feels like the Olympics but more like a fashion show between countries, competing to see who has the best outfit.
However, he still complimented @michelamazonka‘s work mentioning how Asian and European countries without cultural elements in their uniforms are left behind when compared to Mongolia’s attire.
“It’s truly a blend of exquisite and traditional. Winning or losing the Olympics is secondary, as long as the 1st impression is top-notch! And the detailing is no joke.”
He also mentioned that Mongolia’s uniform is in the top 5 most beautiful so far, and the uniform is for the opening and closing ceremonies.
Some netizens shared the same sentiments, prompting them to flood the comment section to share their thoughts and reactions.
“Is it because the Olympics are in Paris, which is also known as the home of the “Fashion World”?”
“Most countries nowadays make use of their own country’s designers, except for Malaysia.”
“Our country has many famous designers who could have assisted with our Olympics attire, but the government chose not to engage them. If only they knew how eager designers would be to contribute. Our batik outfits are all stunning.”
“Perhaps this year’s Olympics is also giving awards for the best-dressed.”
However, other netizens felt differently about the design and shared their support.
“It’s okay not to win any medals as long as your presentation is top-notch. When representing your country, you should be presentable, especially in Paris, the world of fashion.”
“Wow, that looks nice. It looks beautiful.”
“Their presentation video is top-notch. Our country’s team can’t even match something like this.”
“Their official attire looks beautiful. I bet it would sell well if they made it available to the public.”
