A lot of Malaysians use different social media platforms to discuss certain matters.
One of them has recently posted a comparison of a certain section of the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE).
With the first picture from April 2024, we see that there is a slight crack in the structure.
When compared with the other picture from June 2024, the crack has widened and become more pronounced.
In less than 24 hours, the Works Minister has responded on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“I take this matter seriously,” said Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He added, “I have instructed the Malaysian Highway Authority and SPE’s concessionaire to go to the area tonight and conduct an immediate inspection.”
The minister added that everyone’s safety is the most important.
“The safety of everybody, especially road users’ are of utmost importance.”
According to BERNAMA, the cracks were spotted on the Jalan Cheras flyover.
The SPE was fully opened on November 3, 2023, and features a dual-carriageway and seven elevated interchanges.
It connects the SPRINT Highway, Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH), Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) and the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) to increase connectivity and reduce congestion in those areas.
We hope that relevant authorities will get to the bottom of this.
