Namewee recently attended a red carpet event in Taiwan alongside Malaysian model Siew Puiyi, commonly known as Puiyi.
During the event, Puiyi made her entrance and walked next to Namewee in a revealing, see-through outfit, to which Namewee deliberately tried to cover some of her body parts from being recorded by the media friends, as shown in a video shared via Facebook page 造咖.
Namewee himself appeared in a black and white suit with a hat, while Puiyi came in a see-through dress and thong.
Namewee’s team members were also seen carrying a picture of him in black and white on the red carpet, which was a callback to the promotion of his song in April this year, which was filmed in Nirvana, KL.
“It’s not a joke. I wanted to tell everyone the importance of a farewell ceremony before death, but it caused some trouble,” Namewee explained about his song, which was released back in April.
In addition, Namewee also performed during the opening, including the song “Glass Heart”, which meant to urge all creators to keep their original intentions.
He said,
“I believe that everyone starts to create by doing what they want to do and filming what they want to film, but when you have a little fame, you will encounter noises such as public opinion suppression. I hope that the creators present will not forget their original intentions.”
Malaysian netizens, on the other hand, were not amused by what they saw, and many criticisms went to Namewee himself.
“This guy has to be one of the most hated people in Malaysia.”
“He could’ve made it with his talent, and yet he relies on these acts.”
“His films are not even good, and I don’t understand why cinemas are still promoting his films.”
“Tainted all the way until Taiwan.”
“I pity them; they can only rely on these to find fame.”
