The European Union (EU) has recognised the MySejahtera digital vaccination certificate!
EU Ambassador to Malaysia, Michalis Rokas, took to his Twitter page to share the good news, which officially went into effect yesterday (4 April).
He wrote, “The EU has accepted Malaysia’s request for establishing the equivalence between EU’s Digital Covid Certificate and Malaysia’s MySejahtera. A booster for business and tourism!”
Based on a report by Kosmo, the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, confirmed Rokas’s announcement in a statement.
“Covid-19 vaccination certificates and tests issued by Malaysia under the ‘Vaccine Management System’ for the purpose of facilitating the right to free movement in a union, are considered equivalent to those issued under Regulation (EU) 2021/953,”
“Malaysia will be linked to the EU Covid Digital Certificate trust framework established by Regulation (EU) 2021/953,” she shared.
She added that Regulation (EU) 2021/953 sets out a framework for the production, validation and acceptance of Covid-19 vaccines that are interoperable through testing and rehabilitation certificates that facilitate holders to exercise their right to free movement during pandemic periods.
“The MySejahtera application also contains the Covid-19 validation test certificate for real-time Reserve Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing but not rapid antigen testing,” she explained.
