Famous Indonesian singer, actress cum politician , Kris Dayanti recently announced that she is changing her name (ever so slightly) from “Krisdayanti” to “Kris Dayanti“. You read that right, the celebrity simply capitalised the first letters of her two names after adding a space in between.
Kris Dayanti or sometimes even known as KD, announced her name change on the 28th of April at a press conference located at Central Jakarta.
As reported by Indonesian news website, Detik.com, the singer turned politician said that her decision was made to honour the original name her father had given her at birth.
“On the birth certificate, I am Kris Dayanti but I changed my first name to Krisdayanti as it was a catchier stage name and made brand dealings easier”, she said.
“But ever since my father passed, I have become more appreciative of my original name and decided to change it back to Kris Dayanti. It’s a way of me honouring my late father.”
Although the story behind the name change is heartfelt, Malaysian netizens have pointed out that there was not much difference made to her “new” name for her to go through all the legal effort and announcing it to the media.
