A 59-year-old woman in Malaysia has been taken into custody following disturbing allegations of abuse and human trafficking involving her 47-year-old Indonesian domestic helper. The case came to light after her stepson alerted authorities, triggering a police investigation.
As reported by the New Straits Times, the woman was arrested on October 20, with her husband, also 59, detained three days later on October 23.

Arrests were prompted by message from stepson
The Serdang district police chief revealed that the arrests were prompted by a message received by the woman’s 37-year-old stepson from his sister, warning that something serious had occurred at their home.
The sister claimed the domestic helper had been scalded when the woman allegedly poured hot water into her mouth as punishment for using soy sauce without permission.

Further investigations uncovered a pattern of severe abuse. The domestic helper reportedly suffered repeated physical assaults, including having her breasts pinched until injured, hot water poured on her legs, and being kicked in the mouth, resulting in broken teeth.
The couple appeared before the Klang Sessions Court on October 24, where they pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bail was set at RM20,000 each, and both were required to surrender their passports.
