A graduation is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of event where you celebrate the success you have achieved after years of burning the midnight oil.
Does that mean you can only wear the convocation robe once in your lifetime? Malaysian student, Meor recently seized the opportunity to “utilise” his rented graduation robe to the max. We had grad students who “roamed” in the air by sliding down the flying fox in their graduation robe but in Meor’s case, he took the simpler route by experiencing what it’s like to do house chores in the graduation robe, as shown via his TikTok @nikamirulshakir.
The 35-second clip shows Meor defying the odds by doing everyday chores like doing the laundry and dishes, washing his motorcycle, and even feeding his cat in his graduation robe.
“It’s a loss if we wear the convocation robe just for a day,” Meor wrote in his caption.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Meor said that his convocation is expected to take place on November 26. He also did not expect his clip to go viral.
“I was randomly creating a content, and didn’t expect to get a lot of views on TikTok,” Meor told WORLD OF BUZZ.
“Go for a spin around the kampung in the robe!”
At the time of writing, Meor’s clip has gained more than 406,000 views and netizens could relate to his desire to wear the convocation robe for more than just a day.
“It’s so worth it that you get to wear it for almost a month. My son is having his convocation this month, too.”
“You’ve paid the rental fee and you should’ve gone for a spin around the kampung in the robe! Congratulations!
“Your cat must be proud to see you wearing the convocation robe.”
You can watch Meor’s clip below and if you’re graduating anytime soon, you might want to experience doing something else while wearing the robe just for the graduation day.
