Anxiety can show up in different forms, and chances are you’ve felt the occasional signals of both physical and emotional distress. You might recognise these as panicky breathing, a racing heart, trouble sleeping, feelings of dread, or even those never-ending cycles of worry.
In a recent TikTok video shared by @thepocahontas, the unexpected happened as she found herself caught in a nerve-wracking situation inside a lift.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, she shared that she has been a resident of an apartment in Subang Jaya for over 25 years. Despite spending her entire life in the building, she mentioned that the lifts had never caused any issues before.
On that fateful day, as she rode the lift from the 3rd floor to go to work, it began shaking and suddenly came to a stop, causing her to have an anxiety attack.
“I consider myself lucky that the lights didn’t go out, that would have escalated my anxiety even further.”
In the midst of the terrifying experience, she attempted to reach out to her mother. Despite struggling with a shaky phone connection on public wifi, she managed to contact her mother and father, as well as the emergency number provided in the lift.
“The reason why I started recording myself was to have proof if anything bad were to happen to me in case if the lift were to fall or anything.”
After enduring nearly an hour of horror, the lift doors finally opened, bringing an end to the traumatic experience. She disclosed that she fainted and sought medical attention at the clinic.
Concerned Malaysians flooded the comments section, expressing their empathy and worry for her well-being.
“I prefer taking the stairs, that way I know I’ll be safe.”
“You must be feeling traumatised after this incident.”
“I hope you’re doing fine now. I feel like crying too after watching this.”
Following the incident, she revealed that she received a diagnosis of anxiety.

@thepocahontas Siapa pernah ada experience stuck in lift? That is the scariest moment ever ? I memang ada fear naik lift since I was little ? Tak sangka benda yg i paling takut tu lah benda yg jadi ? Cerita dia- I nak pergi kerja, i turun lift mcm biasa, tiba2 lift bergegar dan terus stuck dkt tingkat 2 ??? I MENGIGIL & PANIC ?? First thing I did was to call my mama & papa, baru call bomba. Tu pun kejap ada line, kejap takde ? Dalam my head, i dah fikir bukan2, especially i takut kalau platform lift ni akan jatuh. I dah siap mengucap & standby handbag dkt kepala, in case kalau i jatuh ? After almost an hour, i dah pengsan dan dah dibawa ke clinic. I lack oxygen dlm lift & sangat2 terkejut. Alhamdulillah, petang tadi dah balik rumah & dah sihat. Anxiety attack ? Before this, i refused to believe I ada anxiety. But I knew, i ada ‘benda tu’ sbb my hand selalu shaky bila i takut. Mcm mana nak hilangkan anxiety eh? P/S: Special thanks to everyone today, my papa, mama, adik, guards, bomba, abang lift. ? #AnxietyAwareness
All in all, anxiety is no joke. If you think you might be experiencing it, seeking help is always a better option.
