Education is one of the most powerful tools any individual can wield, and understandably, parents put immense thought and consideration into deciding which institutes would be the best for their children.

Malaysian mother and content creator Aisya Rahman recently shared a TikTok clip to her page @aisyarahman.advisory where she gave her opinions on public schools in Malaysia, specifically directed towards parents who intend to send their children to Chinese schools, which is also known as SJKC institutes.

As Aisya currently sends two of her children to SJKC schools, the creator provided her thoughts on some of the realities parents should be aware of before sending their kids to Chinese schools.

In her pointers, Aisya began by stating that parents should not be calculated with sending their kids to SJKC schools, as the cost of sending them to these academies are not as cheap as what one may think.

“On average, we spend more than RM2,000 or more per month on their education alone, despite going to a government school. Why? Acquiring a third language that is not our mother tongue is actually very difficult,” said Aisya in the TikTok video.

Adding context to the matter, Aisya stated that she started taking one-on-one Mandarin coaching back in 2019 to help her understand basic numbers and phrases, and also to help her son with his homework.

“Whenever I help my son with mathematics, I am able to converse in Mandarin, so he knows that mommy is supporting his journey in Mandarin,” she stated.

Closing off her thoughts, Aisya further added that it is important for parents to design their children’s education plan with a vision towards their future, including secondary school and university.

“When it comes to having children, I want to be an advocate for being a mother who is responsible. So what we need to plan for, is there education journey too,” she ended in the TikTok video.

Garnering praise for her insightful yet enlightening approach, some users thanked Aisya as they plan to send their own children to SJKC schools in the future. Aside from that, multiple people also spoke on the quality of Chinese school education, saying that their calibre of excellence is truly esteemed.

SJKC are quality institutes. It’s because they function though sponsors, so their performance, quality, and discipline is prioritised. There are no other influences as well,” wrote one user.

Finding the right school for your children is no easy task. As parents, sometimes we seek validation on our school decisions from the wrong crowd, further causing anxiousness as to whether we are on the right path or vice versa. But when it comes to education, there is no right or wrong, or ‘wasted’ education. What’s important is to have sufficient funds so that you can help your kids be whoever they want to be. holisticfinancialplanning certifiedfinancialplanner islamicfinancialplanner islamicfinancialplanning islamicfinance corporatetrainer investment personalfinanceforwomen personalfinancemalaysia financialliteracy financialplanning womenwealthworkshop womenwealthworkforce financialliteracyforwomen
