Content creator, Zainuddin Omar, took to his Facebook page to recall how his friend was forced to pay for a RM600 wagyu tomahawk steak after his friends had made him treat them to a meal when he got a job promotion.
He wrote, “One of my friends had been newly promoted from Grade 54 to JUSA C (public sector rankings). Many of his batch mates were still in Grade 54 and he was the earliest to be promoted.”
“As per usual, when someone gets promoted, their close friends would pester them to treat them to a meal at a restaurant. In the end, he was forced to bring 6 of his close friends to a famous steakhouse. When the menu arrived, some of them didn’t choose from the types of steaks available but chose the most expensive dish.”
Shamelessly, the friends ordered a wagyu tomahawk steak that cost RM600, considering someone else was paying for it.
“2 of the other friends felt embarassed and only ordered steaks worth RM60.”
His initial budget was just RM200 to RM300
His friend had budgeted RM200 to RM300 to treat the group but had to foot a whopping RM3,000 bill.
“When the bill arrived, my friend had to pay the RM3,000 bill from being ‘slaughtered’ by his friends. My friend’s budget was only RM200 to RM300. He complained to me about how his friends were willing to do that to him because he was the first to get promoted. RM3,000 for a fun meal is a huge waste (of money) for him,” Zainuddin added.
He went on to explain that the moral of the story is that people should not jump at the opportunity to take advantage of their friends.
