Dining out is sometimes like a “game” today – a game of uncertainties about the possibilities of finding additional ingredients in your food. The additional ingredients, are not always pleasant to discover.

Just yesterday (August 28), a Malaysian, Benny Teng shared his horrifying experience in the Facebook group 蒲种大新闻(Puchong News Group). What he discovered in his food at a restaurant in Puchong was certainly a nightmare fuel. We’ll include the image below and let’s see if you can guess what Benny found.

You got that right. It’s a dead cockroach in 1 piece buried in his bread. Benny added that his daughter had a few bites of the bread prior to the finding, and she was THIS CLOSE to chewing the dead cockroach. Despite his dissatisfaction about the experience, Benny was polite & nice when leaving his feedback in the Facebook group.

“They truly need to up their game in terms of cleanliness. The staff needs to watch his attitude too. There’s a lot of room for improvement.”

The restaurant, according to Benny, was only opened in the recent 2 weeks.

To have such a blunder during the opening weeks is a serious issue but fortunately, it did not take long for the management of the restaurant to respond.

“We’ll be selective in choosing the bread supplier”

On the same day, the management of the restaurant issued a long public apology via a Facebook post, and assured the public that necessary measures have been taken to handle the issues. As of yesterday, the management has stopped ordering the bread from the supplier, and they are in the midst of looking for another trusted supplier.

“We will also provide more training to the staff to improve their service.”

In the meantime, the management admitted their mistake of not checking the food prior to serving them to the customers.

“We truly apologise for that, and for our bad service, as well as the food that may not be up to your par. We hope the public, especially our customers can give us another chance.”

The management also reached out to Benny for an apology. Additionally, the management also shared a conversation in a WhatsApp group with all the employees in it, and have asked those in the Puchong outlet to immediately discard the breads that were received from the same batch.

Such a discovery may bring down an organisation’s reputation, more or less. However, kudos to the management team for their prompt response and immediate action!
