Sustenance is a privilege not everyone has access to. And while we as humans may need to bring ourselves from pay check to pay check in order to attain our basic necessities, we can only imagine what the struggle would be like for stray animals who do not know where their next meal will come from.
Taking steps towards spreading kindness and doing the right thing, Malaysian TikTok creator Eiza Laila has been making waves online after she shared a video of herself purchasing a piece of fried chicken for a stray dog in Batu Kawan, Penang.
In the clip posted to her account @_eizalaila, the Malay woman can be seen receiving a single piece of fried chicken from a waiter at a mamak. Putting the plate on her table, Laila then picked the chicken up before tossing it to a white dog that was sitting nearby.
Walking over to the piece of chicken, the pup sniffed the food item before grabbing it up with his teeth, totting to a quiet corner to enjoy the piece for himself. Carefully savouring each bite, the dog looked over to Laila at multiple moments, as though to thank her for buying him the piece of chicken, before digging into it once again.
“This dog is good. He came near me looking glum, but when I told him to sit, he sat. He patiently waited for the chicken I ordered for him,” wrote Laila in a caption across the screen.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ , Laila said that she, at her core, loves animals deeply, and has received backlash for taking strides in caring for dogs. Nevertheless, she firmly believes in treating all beings equally, adding that there is no harm in being kind to all animals, including dogs.
“There’s nothing wrong in sharing sustenance with dogs. Our blessings will grow when we do good towards them. I hope everyone learns to treat them with kindness,” said Laila to WORLD OF BUZZ.
Receiving immense praise from the public, many Malaysians applauded Laila for providing food to the dog. Others also spoke on how smart the dog was, knowing that he should not come close to Laila, and instead picked up the fried chicken to go somewhere else and enjoy it.
“I agree with you. We will never become poor when we share our blessings with other creations by God,” wrote another user.
In an adorable twist, one user who resides in Penang, alluded to knowing who the dog was, having affectionately named him Yellow.
“He always waits at the corner, so we give him food when we can. He is a good boy, and never disturbs anyone there,” wrote the user.
