An anonymous sharing by a Malaysian man about the arrangement that he and his wife have for Hari Raya Aidilfitri has caught the attention of netizens recently.
While most married couples usually argue about whose hometown to go back to each festive season, the man revealed that he and his wife would celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri separately by going back to their hometowns alone instead of together as a couple, thus avoiding any feuds from breaking out.
A married couple celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri separately
The man shared this with @meinmokhtar on X (formerly Twitter) via an anonymous message who then posted it to his account. In the caption, @meinmohktar was kinda taken aback by the fact that a married couple celebrates Hari Raya Aidilfitri separately.
In the anonymous sharing, the man shared that he’s 35 years old while his wife is 36 years old and that the arrangement about going back to their hometown separately during Hari Raya Aidilfitri has been ongoing since 5 years ago.
The man shared,
“She goes back to her kampung, I go back to my kampung. Both of us are happy, no feuds.”
“This arrangement is ongoing as long as both sets of our parents are alive because both of us are the eldest children. Please follow our example haha.”
“Are both their parents neighbours?”
In the replies to the X post, many Malaysians were surprised and amused by the couple’s arrangement. Furthermore, many tried to theorise how the couple could do it while others couldn’t.
One commenter was taken aback by the couple’s arrangement but theorised that they’re actually cousins who married each other, hence why they could go back to their own hometowns separately i.e. their hometowns are near each other.
Several commenters had the same theory as to why they could fulfil this arrangement, which is that both of their parents are neighbours.
Meanwhile, one commenter said that such an arrangement is only possible if the couple has no children.
