Participating in charitable activities and giving back to the community can be a rewarding thing.
Just ask this cotton candy vendor.
Abang Gula Kapas took to his TikTok account to share the sweet lesson he had learned while carrying out his business at a school event in Kangar, Perlis.
It all started when he was asked to contribute a donation to the school, SJKC Khoon Aik which he calls the ‘School with a Big Heart’, as they were not charging him a rental fee to open up shop at the carnival.
“If you want to do business here, you must make a contribution. We don’t charge for the space,” the school’s representative had told him.
The carnival’s aim was allegedly to allow for people to conduct their business there while the vendors also made charitable donations for the development of the school and their students.
“Rich or poor, everyone was treated the same. Even though I am Malay, many, many people purchased from me.”
“Alhamdulillah, the school encouraged me to contribute RM348.90 on this glorious day. Thank you, SJKC Khoon Aik, for teaching me a very beautiful value for me to use as a guide in life,” he added.
The value he is talking about is the love that comes with giving back to the community as well as the equality among the school members, where the privileged and the underprivileged are treated the same.
