The sneaker scene in Malaysia is definitely big and many people queue up overnight just to get a chance to purchase a pair.
On 5 November, a netizen by the name of Kai Shern, 20, shared his experience when queuing up to buy a pair of sneakers in a sneaker store located in a PJ mall.
In his post, he says that on 3 November, he was having lunch at a restaurant in the PJ mall when he received a call from a friend.
The friend told him that there was a sneaker drop at the mall that he was at, so Kai Shern quickly ran to the sneaker shop and got in line. When he was on the way, he noticed that there was another man who was also running behind him.
The man who reached at about the same time as Kai Shern did not queue up, instead, he cut the line and that angered the 20-year-old.
“I raised my voice and asked him not to cut the queue. The staff who were there asked him to leave the line, he came to me and threatened me by asking me to be careful.”
After that, someone came between them and asked the furious man to calm down. The man went out and after a couple of minutes, he came back in and kicked Kai Shern. People in the queue managed to stop the angry man.
The 20-year-old bought the pair of sneakers and walked out of the store. However, the angry man was waiting outside with a group of his friends and they started provoking Kai Shern by asking him to fight them. The young man just said bye to them and walked away.
The group did not follow him at first but after a few minutes, Kai Shern was splashed with a bottle of soft drink. As he was blinded, he tried to push the assaulters away but failed, so the group attacked him. Less than a minute in, they ran away.
“I don’t understand why they have to act this way when they are the ones in the wrong. They made a mistake, but I have bear the injuries.”
Kai Shern told WORLD OF BUZZ that he went to the hospital for a quick check. Thankfully, he only sustained minor injuries: some bruises on his shoulder and a crack on his lip.
Later on that day, the 20-year-old went to a police station and lodged a police report on the assault.
Kai Shern deduces that the group of men were sneaker runners who earn commissions from helping to purchase sneakers.
“If I choose not to raise my voice today, I believe there will be similar incidents and victims in the future.”
“This is not a small matter, this is about how a group of men can gang up and assault people. This is how dirty and disgusting the sneaker scene is in Malaysia,” he added.
As of now, the police are investigating this case. We certainly hope that justice will prevail.
