With the Chinese New Year period still ongoing, people are still playing with and hearing fireworks outside of their homes.
And while that’s all fine and dandy, there are still certain etiquettes people need to follow while playing with fireworks.
Netizen, Cash Thong, took to her Facebook page to showcase used fireworks being left by the roadside after what appears to be a fun night in Sungai Long, Cheras. She also condemned those who decided to play with the fireworks but not clean up after.
She wrote, “They had fun setting off fireworks on the 8th night of the Lunar New Year, but the next day, the ground was full of garbage. They know how to play but don’t know how to clean up after themselves. The level of this behaviour, character and mindset is extremely low.”
In the images showcased, boxes and used fireworks could be seen sitting by the side of a road where it was obviously gathered by those who played with it but did not throw it away properly into a garbage bin.
While playing with fireworks (in a safe manner and not only the wee hours of the morning) is acceptable, it is important that we also clean up the used fireworks as well as the residue that it leaves on the road (which will end up flying into people’s compounds) before we call it a night.
