A man’s actions of threatening and trespassing into his ex-girlfriend’s family home in Taman Melawati led to his arrest yesterday.

According to a statement shared by Ampang Jaya District Police, the situation arose when the 24-year-old woman refused to continue her relationship with the 31-year-old man.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail stated that during the incident on September 18 at 1:30 PM, the suspect trespassed into the woman’s family home and threw stones at the victim’s bedroom window.

He broke the glass door with a dumbbell

Mohd Azam said the suspect entered the house by breaking the back glass door with a dumbbell, then went into the living room while shouting the woman’s name.

The statement also revealed that the victim went into her room and hid in the bathroom as she called the police. At the same time, the suspect tried to break down the room door with a dumbbell but failed.

“The suspect then sneaked into the room through the balcony by breaking the window and threatened the victim before leaving.”

The total cost of damages amounted to RM20,000

Mohd Azam added that the investigation found the motive for the incident was because the victim no longer wanted to continue the romantic relationship with the suspect after being together for almost 3 months.

“The estimated damage to the victim’s family’s home caused by the suspect is around RM20,000. The police arrested the suspect at 5:50 PM yesterday in Petaling Jaya, and checks revealed that he has 13 previous criminal records and one outstanding warrant.”

He added that the suspect’s remand has been approved for 4 days starting September 26 until September 29 to assist in the investigation under Section 427, Section 448, and Section 506 of the Penal Code.
