Remember those days of cramming for SPM examinations? The sheer amount of knowledge we had to shove into our brains in Form 4 and Form 5 was not easy – after all, we had at least 8 to 10 subjects to take!
For Ong Yong Xun, he wanted to help SPM students prepare better, especially when this exam holds a lot of weight for a person’s future.
Developing an app with no coding background
At only 20-years-old (oh God, what was I doing at that age), Ong Yong Xun took up the task of developing his own app – with NO experience in coding whatsoever.
He mentions that his goal is to help SPM students because being in that position himself years ago, he realised there were no concise notes for SPM subjects he could easily refer to.
“I was once an SPM student and I can’t find any short and informative notes for SPM subjects that I could bring anywhere I go without having to bring a bulky 234 pages thick book.
“Hence, I have a goal to create my very first own application from scratch that contains 16 subjects of SPM notes.
“Yes, I am self-taught and the only teacher I had was Mr.Google.”
It took him 6 months and the app is FREE
He admitted that it was not easy at all. Yong Xun shares,
“It was an extremely difficult journey for me but the goal to provide free and accessible education keeps me going.
“Now, my app has just been published and approved by both PlayStore and AppStore. SPM students may search for it or click the link below to view my App to help them do their revisions.”
What’s so amazing about this app is that it’s totally FREE and there’s no hidden charges nor subscription fees. Yong Xun genuinely wants to help fellow students out there and make revising studies easy and accessible. If only I had this back in my days!
Genuine intentions to help students excel in their exams
He shares that,
“I hope that the existence of this app will help and make at least a slight impact on the students in preparing for their examination.
“My intention is simple as all I want is to let the students know this app exists so they can make good use of the app thus experience something that I wished I had when I sat for my SPM.”
As of now, he’s happy that many found the app useful and has provided him with feedback. He’s now actively working on it and looks forward to more features to be available in the app.
