A man from India went through a horrifying experience when he suddenly lost contact with his friend, Kyle (pseudonym), right after Kyle took an urgent IT job that required him to fly to Thailand.
Hoping to get some answers, Reddit user Living-sand18 shared that before disappearing, Kyle had sent him a location that weirdly pointed to somewhere in Myanmar.

Kyle had to cross a river at night
In the post, Living-sand18 shared that Kyle got a job offer in India, and not long after, this so-called “IT company” booked him a flight from New Delhi to Bangkok. Later, Kyle told him that he had crossed a river at night.
Since then, he hasn’t been able to contact Kyle and is hoping netizens can help him figure out anything about the location he attached to the post.
One of the many users who responded mentioned how the location is allegedly a scam hub where foreigners are either forced to scam or doing it willingly.

“I hope my friend is safe”
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, he shared that the Embassy of India in Yangon (Myanmar) informed him they are continuously raiding scam centres near the Myanmar-Thailand border. According to them, thousands of victims have been rescued and are being sent to Thailand.
“Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Thailand stated that they are receiving 50 to 100 victims daily, who are then investigated and deported to their home countries. However, they mentioned that it may take a few months to move all the victims from the safe house in Myanmar to Thailand,” he added.
The embassy also told him that they’ll be giving the rescued victims phones so they can contact their families.
“On February 19, I saw news saying ‘thousands of foreigners were rescued from a cybercrime city.’ I just hope my friend was one of them and that he’s safe,” he wrote.

“There’s hope from both countries”
Living-sand18 shared that Kyle left for Thailand on February 7, and their last conversation was on February 16.
In another update, Living-sand18 said that he spoke to both Indian Embassies in Thailand and Myanmar. He was told that the army was working on rescuing the victims and shutting the scamming places down.
He also told WORLD OF BUZZ that the scammers are trying to move the victims to a secret location, but the army is constantly stopping them.
“I’ve talked to both embassies, and they said the army is rescuing victims and planning to shut these places down. I can’t share all the details right now, but there’s hope from both countries,” he wrote.
There are no new updates for now, but Living-sand18 is asking anyone with info about these syndicates to email him at Living-sand18@proton.me. Stay tuned for more updates!
