A man in his 30s was recently caught for Khalwat in a hotel room in Johor during a raid by the state Religious Department (JAINJ).
5 minutes after the knock, the man opened the door and shut it immediately after noticing the presence of JAINJ officers. They continued to knock, and the man finally opened the door again, and he was not alone.

He was accompanied by two women in their 20s. The man claimed that the women had just entered the room to use the bathroom.
According to him, the women needed to use his bathroom because the facilities at the nearest gas station were unavailable. However, a JAINJ spokesperson stated that the bed in the room was found in a messy condition. Upon questioning, both women admitted to knowing the man personally and confirmed that they were friends.
The hotel room was registered under the man’s name, and he had invited both women.

All three individuals were detained under Section 27 of the Johor Syariah Offences Enactment 1997. If found guilty, they may face a fine of up to RM3,000 or a jail term of up to two years.
In a viral Facebook post by JAINJ, the spokesperson also highlighted the possible influence of social media in such cases, stressing that parents and legal guardians play a crucial role in ensuring that youth are not led into immoral activities.
