If you think money that came from a bank is safe, you might want to think again.
Just yesterday, a woman confronted bank workers because she allegedly received fake and damaged banknotes from them. The incident was caught on video and has gone viral on Facebook.
In the 30-second video, the woman approached the lady at the counter rather furiously and demanded to speak with the manager. She said:
“Where’s your manager? Just now I came here to withdraw RM40k and these are some of the money you gave me. How can you hand me this kind of money?”
Apparently, 5 of the RM100 banknotes were in dreadful condition. According to pictures shared by a netizen, 3 were torn while another 2 were fake notes which had been patched up with cellophane tape.
Soon, another worker came to defuse the tensed situation by apologising. She said:
“I’m so sorry. We accidentally gave you the ‘wrong ones’. We’ll change for you immediately.”
The woman didn’t want to buy into their story because the money was handed over to her by a bank worker. Surely the worker would’ve notice it in the process of counting the money.
She then replied:
“Don’t use this as an excuse. Obviously you’re trying to cheat me! What kind of bank is this?”
The video went viral with over 7,000 shares overnight and netizens began pouring their 2 cents in the comment section.
“It’s weird because the worker immediately offer to change the banknotes without asking anything. Looks like they knew what was going on,” a netizen said.
“Sometimes it’s the workers themselves who slot in the damaged ones and take out the good ones,” another netizen commented.
So guys, be sure to double check your money especially the big notes after withdrawing from ATM or over the counter because shockingly, such cases had happened before.
