Recently, the Selangor-state Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) shared details into a kidnapping incident that took place in Jeram, Kuala Selangor on July 19 (Friday), where 2 little girls, aged 6 and 8 respectively, were taken by a 32-year-old man before being dropped off at a housing area later on the same day.
The man, who works as a pisang goreng (banana fritters) seller, was then arrested, found guilty and sentenced to 24 months in prison and fined RM2,000 yesterday, July 25. Failure to pay his fine will result in his prison sentence extending by a month.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, the man has since revealed the reason for his actions to Muhd Muqri Mohd Khairi from the National Legal Aid Foundation (JBG) during the proceedings of the case at the Sungai Besar Magistrate’s Court.
It turns out that the man kidnapped the girls because he only has sons and really wanted daughters.
“I was informed that the accused only has 2 sons and has not yet had the means to have daughters. He does not have any past records and this is his first offence, and I believe that he has repented,” he shared.
It is understood that the man had encountered the 2 girls while they were playing in front of their house.
He had lured them into his car by inviting them to accompany him as he delivered letters while giving them RM50 in cash as payment for their company.
Agreeing to his terms, the 2 girls then followed the man to a grocery store, went on a walk with him around Jeram and even went with him to his house before being sent back to their housing area.
We’re so grateful for the girls’ safe return and urge parents to be more observant of their children’s movements while playing outside of their homes.
