The Ministry of Health (KKM) is in the process of making a decision regarding the relaxation of wearing face masks as implemented by the Singapore government.
Based on a report by Harian Metro, the Chairman of the National Rehabilitation Council (MPN), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin shared that the matter was raised by him to the Ministry of Health, represented by Deputy (Health) Minister, Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali in a recent MPN meeting.
“I raised it myself, if everything is okay, why do you want to still wear it (face masks)?”
“He (Dr Noor Azmi) said his side will look into the matter in more detail. This action is not because Singapore is doing it, so Malaysia has to do it too,” he said after chairing the MPN meeting.
He explained that, at this time, it has become a new habit among the people and foreigners in Malaysia to wear face masks without being forced to. Therefore, if it has become a habit, it is appropriate for the Ministry of Health to no longer make it mandatory to wear a face mask.
Instead, it can continue to be used if the person chooses to, in order to feel safer.
“We at MPN only give our views and I leave it to the Ministry of Health to consider the matter,” he added.
