An individual allegedly triggered a hoax bomb threat involving a local departure flight at the KL International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1. The person was later detained and handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further action.
According to a press statement by Malaysia Airports, the incident was first reported at 5:32 pm on Tuesday (2 December), shortly before the flight was meant to depart.

“The Aviation Security team activated the required response protocols, secured the area and coordinated with the relevant authorities,”
“All passengers remained safe throughout the process. The flight later departed with the remaining passengers at 7:19 pm,” they explained.

They went on to assure that their Aviation Security, along with PDRM and the bomb disposal unit, completed detailed assessments of the scene.
“Authorities declared stand down at 8:58 pm, confirming that the situation was safe and the incident was a hoax,”
“Airport operations continued without disruption. Malaysia Airports reminds all travellers that making false threats is a serious offence under Malaysian law,” they added.
Viral videos
Prior to this, videos have been circulating on social media showcasing what appeared to be the response protocol by airport authorities.
The ISU SEMASA VIRAL also shared an image showing a luggage tag that had “Please don’t take. There’s a bomb” written on it.

The image’s caption reads, “For those who are boarding flights, please don’t joke about things like this. To you, it might be all fun and games, but when it reaches us, it’s not a joke. The auxiliary police and AFRS (Airport Fire Rescue Service) all came down. The bays were all closed.”
“Please lah. Things like this are not funny when it’s at the airport.”
