It is not new news that Chinese New Year in Malaysia is unique – cue halal bakuas, yee sang, biscuits and most importantly the fact that mixed races celebrate the festivities together.
Not wanting to be left behind, this couple, well in particular the wife, wanted to show off something that her non-Chinese husband did for this year’s Lunar New Year celebration.
“So, I have been married for five years to this beloved, gorgeous man,” said the wife.
“He is definitely not Chinese, he is a Malay. But he has been with my family long enough to know how to wish happy Chinese New Year, in Chinese.”
Prepping her husband for the grand reveal. Poised and looking at the camera, with gusto, the husband uttered, “Happy new year! Wishing you good health! May everything go well!” in Mandarin!
Ending the video stating that her family members will be jealous of her this CNY, some in the comments section wished that they could see her family’s reaction to the greetings.
