A Malaysian TikToker recently said his university is indebted to him because he gave them money to buy a degree certificate.
In an official statement last night (August 9), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) responded to the matter and said a police report has been lodged against the TikToker to curb the dissemination of wrong and false information.
In its statement, UniSZA also denied selling academic certificates to anyone and said it takes the allegations seriously.
“We will not compromise in maintaining the quality of our Diploma and Degree programmes. We are always audited by Academic Bodies and Professionals to maintain the quality of our education, and the graduates that we produce.”
The university also made it clear that it will take legal action against anyone who spreads wrong information that might tarnish the institute’s image. The public is also reminded to ensure the authenticity of the information before making further comments.
Earlier, a TikToker went viral after saying a degree is not helping him as his academic qualifications do not align with his life goals. UniSZA also confirmed that the TikToker is no longer a university student.
He also claimed that we are merely “buying” the Degree certificate to get jobs and not to pursue knowledge.
“What do you mean knowledge? A degree is something that we buy. We can get knowledge someplace else.”
What do you think of the TikToker’s take on this matter?
