A 2-year-old Russian boy lost his life after being stung by jellyfish in Langkawi
The boy’s father, 32-year-old Nikita, explained that his son suffered serious complications from the venomous animal’s sting.
“In the incident last Saturday, while bathing in shallow water, he suddenly screamed in pain. My wife immediately picked him up, handed him to me, and we took him up to the beach,”
“Within a few seconds, he stopped breathing. I tried to perform CPR as quickly as possible. Other tourists came to help and took us to the beach rescuers. They washed the wound with vinegar before sending him to a clinic, then to the hospital,” he said, adding that medical teams from both Langkawi and Alor Setar had been trying to save his son.
“To save others”
Nikita hopes that this tragedy will serve as a reminder to visitors about the dangers of jellyfish stings.
“We believe that what happened to Vladimir was to save others, to prevent similar tragedies from happening again. Vladimir was very kind and smart; we were a happy family,” he shared.
His wife, 32-year-old Olga, further expressed that their son’s passing should be a meaningful one, as he was known as a helpful child.
“He was our hero, our little angel. Every day, we tell him we love him, and he always tells us he loves us back.”
The couple plans to take their son’s ashes back to Russia following the cremation process.
