The Ministry of Health’s (MOH) National Blood Centre (PDN) has wrapped up its Thaipusam 2026 Blood Donation Campaign with impressive results, recording 2,495 visitors who stepped forward to donate!
PDN expressed its gratitude for the strong support from the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Malaysia (SSIOM). Their collaboration helped ensure the success of the campaign, which was held in front of the Batu Caves temple in Gombak, Selangor, from 31 January to 2 February.

Thaipusam 2026 Blood Donation Campaign successfully collected 1,872 blood bags!
With a target of 2,200 bags, PDN shared on its Facebook page that while 623 people who turned up were ultimately unable to donate, the campaign still managed to collect 1,872 bags of blood.
PDN also gave credit to the many parties whose close collaboration made the campaign possible.
“The success was made possible thanks to the teamwork of many groups, including the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple Dhevasthanam, the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Malaysia (SSIOM), the Selayang Municipal Council, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Selangor Water Supply Company (SYABAS), the security team, and everyone involved, both directly and indirectly,” PDN shared.

“This is the true spirit of Malaysia”
In another post, PDN highlighted the “truly heartwarming sight” of Malaysians from different backgrounds coming together to donate blood.
“Looking at the scenes at Batu Caves, it was amazing. Amid the sea of devotees fulfilling their vows, another beautiful moment stood out, with people from all walks of life coming together to give blood.

PDN also emphasised the true spirit of Thaipusam and what it means to be Malaysian.
“To the 1,872 blood donors, our heartfelt thanks. To the 623 who couldn’t donate, don’t be discouraged; your willingness to help is deeply appreciated.
“This is the real spirit of Thaipusam and of Malaysia. ‘Kita Jaga Kita‘ (We take care of each other) isn’t just a slogan; it’s something you can actually see in action.”
