The big news was announced by Khairul himself last night (9 December) via a TikTok post, in which he revealed that the construction of the restaurant has been ongoing since January this year. With a whopping RM4 million capital and an 8,000 square feet space, the restaurant is expected to cater to 250 customers at a time.

Food prices will not be low
It didn’t take long for Khairul to speak more about Rembayung, and last night, during a live session on TikTok, the celebrity chef gave a heads-up to those who are excited to try out, and said that the prices will not be low.
“I’m going to be honest, I can’t sell my food at ‘mesra-rakyat‘ (low prices). We have to look at the environment.”

Khairul then explained that he had already installed 12 sets of air conditioners, with 4 more expected to follow. He also mentioned that he has employed around 50 employees for Rembayung, while highlighting other unavoidable costs.
Khairul aims to promote and serve Malay traditional cuisines in Rembayung, and here’s another concern that you might want to consider before you pay Rembayung a visit.
Khairul will not accept any walk-ins, and reservations have to be made to avoid disappointments.
He suggested that future customers carpool to save themselves the trouble of looking for parking spots, or take public transport, as the Monoral station is just a 5-minute walk away.
“I don’t want you to queue under the sun for hours. It’s not good for you, it’s not good for us, it’s not good for the neighborhood.”
“You’re going to feel hot, you’re going to have trouble looking for Surau or the toilets.”
Rembayung is Khairul’s very first restaurant, 10 years after he had been in the cooking industry.
