A man in Jerlun, Kedah, murdered his brother-in-law by hacking him to death with a machete, severing the victim’s head in the process.
Kubang Pasu District Police Chief, Supt Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim, said police received a report from the public at 7:05 PM yesterday (31 October) regarding the incident, which involved a 45-year-old victim and a 38-year-old suspect.

The suspect was still at the scene when Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) officers arrived
He attempted to attack the officers with a 30-centimetre machete before calming down 15 minutes later and was subsequently arrested.
The machete, believed to be the murder weapon, was confiscated by police.
Mohd Radzi said that in addition to the severed head, the victim, who was a farmer, also sustained stab wounds to other parts of his body. He added that the suspect’s house was located about 30 metres from the scene, while the victim’s house was situated behind the suspect’s residence.
The victim was found lying in a paddy field, with his head located approximately one metre away from his body, BERNAMA and Harian Metro reported.
The victim leaves behind a wife and two children, while the suspect is unmarried.
The body was sent to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah for a post-mortem, and police are still investigating the motive behind the attack.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
