A 29-year-old police officer has been detained over claims of rape and soliciting sexual favours from an individual involved in a criminal case investigation.
The inspector, who’s based at the Kuala Muda District Police HQ, was arrested after two separate reports were filed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police on July 3 and 4, respectively.

He has been remanded for 4 days
Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, revealed that early investigations suggest the officer may have used his position to get sexual favours from an individual involved in the case, according to Sinar Harian.
“We suspect the officer may have used his authority and influence to obtain sexual favours from the victim,” he said.
Meanwhile, Berita Harian reported that the investigation is focused on two possibilities: whether the officer used his position to pressure the victim, or if there was any sexual act that happened without consent.
“I can confirm the case is still being looked into with MACC. The suspect has been remanded for four days and will be handed over to MACC for further action,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 376(2)(f) of the Penal Code, which refers to rape committed by a public servant who abuses his position.
