The Perak Road Transport Department (JPJ) recently opened bidding for a new plate number series that proved to be very popular among Malaysian road users: “ANU”

How popular? Well, according to JPJ Perak director Mohammad Yusoff Abustan, the department raked in a whopping RM2.36 MILLION for the plate number series via the JPJeBid platform!

“ANU” plate number series recorded a revenue of RM2.36 million

BERNAMA quoted Yusoff as saying that there was a total of 1,768 bidders for the ANU plate number series during the 5-day period it was open for bidding from 19 to 23 December 2024.

Furthermore, 3,794 plate registration numbers out of 10,000 under the “ANU” plate number series were sold during the period.

Out of the 3,794 plate numbers sold, the highest bid was recorded for “ANU 1”, at RM269,000.

The popularity of the plate number series can be attributed to how “ANU” in colloquial Malay language is usually used as an euphemism to refer to the male private part.

“AMG” is still the Perak plate number series with the highest revenue

Despite the RM2.37 million revenue, though, “ANU” is far from being the most popular Perak plate number series or the Perak plate number series with the highest revenue for JPJ.

According to Yusoff, that honour goes to the “AMG” plate number series with over RM6 million, as many Mercedes-AMG luxury car owners bought registration numbers under that series.

So, what do you guys think of the “ANU” plate number series? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
