The Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Selangor issued 298 notices involving various traffic offences through the ‘Op Penyemaran’, where undercover officers conducted a road safety operation in conjunction with Chinese New Year.
According to a report by China Press, for 18 days starting Monday (January 20) until Thursday (February 6), the authorities carried out crackdowns and patrols in several hot spots, while not wearing uniforms or using enforcement vehicles.

“The authorities aim to reduce the accident rate and ensure that road users obey traffic rules to avoid accidents,” shared Selangor JPJ Deputy Director, Datuk Ahmad Kamarunzaman Mehat.
Here is a breakdown of the 298 notices handed out during Op Penyemaran:

- Non-compliance with traffic lights: 127 notices
- Driving in the emergency lane: 66 notices
- Hogging the right lane: 39 notices
- Not wearing a helmet: 35 notices
- Using a mobile phone: 21 notices
- Not having a driver’s license: 6 notices
- Expired road tax and insurance coverage: 4 notices
