John Wick Chapter 4 may have been a conclusion to the movie franchise, but the ending raises more questions than answers. If you have not caught up with the movie, obviously, spoilers alert!
After a duel with Donnie Yen’s Caine, John Wick succumbed to his gun wounds and died. The audience did not really see John Wick being buried, which has since opened the doors to more speculations that our beloved antagonist is indeed, faking his death.
So, will there be a John Wick 5? According to the head of Lionsgate Studio, Joe Drake, yes, there is indeed another John Wick movie on the way, and it’s currently in early development, as reported by Comicbook.com.
And that’s not all. The John Wick universe (no, not multiverse) is expanding. A television series and a spinoff movie set in the world of John Wick were announced earlier this year. The TV series – Continental, is a prequel set in the 70s will be released in September this year and will feature and explore a younger Winston.
As for the spinoff, Ballerina, the movie will be released in June 2024, and the story will take place between John Wick: Parabellum and John Wick Chapter 4.
“We’re now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there’s clear appetite by the audience,.”
Joe added that when John Wick 5 comes, it will be organically grown out of how they’re starting to tell those stories. You can watch the teaser for The Continental below.
