The 96th Academy Awards, or the 2024 Oscars was certainly filled with a lot of memorable bits. Former professional wrestler and actor John Cena arguably stole the show when he appeared on stage in a way no one expected.
Audiences saw him (almost) naked in a “grand”, unexpected entrance when the Suicide Squad actor “interfered” with American host, Jimmy Kimmel who was coincidentally talking about a streaker at the 50th Academy Awards who ran into the show naked.
“Can you imagine if, a nude man ran across the stage today? Wouldn’t that be crazy?”
It was like a hint from Jimmy about what the 2024 Oscars had in store for the audiences. Immediately after he posed the rhetorical question, John Cena discreetly appeared backstage and asked Jimmy to go near him.
“I changed my mind, I don’t want to do the streak thing anymore,” John told Jimmy.
Jimmy persuaded John to do it, regardless, to which John said, “It’s such an elegant event. Honestly, you should be ashamed of yourself for suggesting such a tasteless idea.”
The more John tried to decline, the more Jimmy made it obvious that John had to be on stage, regardless.
With only the envelope for Best Costume Design covering his genitals, John walked sideways onto the stage and told the audience that “costumes are important.”
He acknowledged that he was unable to open the envelope, at which point Kimmel took over.
While the nominees were being presented, Jimmy took the liberty to help John put on a robe, covering most parts of his muscular body.

In case you missed it, Cillian Murphy won the Best Leading Actor for his role in the titular film – Oppenheimer. The movie also managed to nab the Best Picture Award, which was helmed by Christopher Nolan, who also won his 1st award at the Oscars as Best Director.
