For most hawkers, a regular day means preparing ingredients before sunrise, serving hungry customers, and hoping the weather stays kind. For Penang hawker Muzaffar, one ordinary day turned into something he will remember for the rest of his life.

His food stall became one of the filming locations for a Netflix production starring Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg. Although filming took place at his stall for only a few scenes, simply seeing an international movie star working in his own business was already surreal.

From food vendor to Hollywood movie extra

Muzaffar took to Threads to share his experience of seeing the Hollywood star in the flesh at his workplace.

Alhamdulillah, rezeki (sustenance),” Muzaffar said, describing the experience.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Muzaffar said the surprises did not stop there. He also unexpectedly got the opportunity to become an extra in the Netflix production, ‘The Big Fix’.

His role? A waiter at the stall.

“I was lucky because they filmed at my own stall. I even got to be an extra waiter,” Muzaffar shared.

For him, even a brief appearance in the film is a memory worth cherishing.

Strict security and a missed conversation

In case you are wondering whether he managed to chat with the Hollywood actor, Muzaffar shared that, while he had intended to, it was not easy. According to Muzaffar, who runs a mixed-rice business called Muzaffar Zafran Iman Nasi Campur, security around Mark Wahlberg was extremely tight throughout filming.

“It was difficult to talk to him because his team guarded him closely. Still, being just a few metres away and watching the production unfold was already an unforgettable experience,” he told WORLD OF BUZZ.

A once-in-a-lifetime experience

Filming at Muzaffar’s stall took place on Monday (13 July) until around 3 PM. The following day, the production moved to Padang Brown, one of Penang’s well-known food and recreation spots.

For Muzaffar, the biggest reward was not fame. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a major Hollywood production from the front row and even become a part of it.
