Well, looks like even big YouTubers fall victim to having their original content stolen!
Recently, famous Malaysian YouTuber, Jin from JinnyBoyTV, took to Facebook to voice his outrage with a famous local coffee company.
According to his post, he called out the company for using a video he did with Hollywood actor, Finn Jones to promote his TV show, Iron Fist.
In the video, he got the actor to try coffee from a particular brand.
Since JinnyBoyTV used their coffee, the company thought it was alright to repost the YouTuber’s video on their official Instagram page for an official advertisement, without his permission nor linkbacks!
Not cool!
We’re sure the coffee company did not mean any ill-intent but they definitely missed out on several important factors, which Jin highlighted.
In the post, the YouTuber stressed that this is concerning because it involved a big Hollywood artist and its studio team.
“Think of the position it puts me in when the studios get in touch with me asking me why a BRAND is using their TALENT in an AD when all they approved was an interview out of pure fun to promote their title.
“I wont make a big fuss if you just shared our youtube video LINK on your page but taking my intellectual property and re-editing it for your own gain is rubbish. I would like an explanation from your end.”
Needless to say, it was definitely a wrong move on the company’s part and they have yet to release an official statement on the matter. Currently, the post has been taken down from their Instagram page, so it will be a matter of time until they sort this situation out with JinnyBoy.
